British Puddings are AMAZING

First of all, my list of Britishisms has grown a bit so check out the new additions. One of them is one I've know of for awhile and that's "pudding" or "pudd" meaning dessert and in no way meaning the american pudding which is like a custard. Right, so one thing the brits do particularly well is their puddings, my god. I'm in chocolate heaven over here and only have to go as far as the market to get some impressively sweet and chocolately puddings. There's this brand called Gu (with the two dots over the u, whatever that's called) and they do fantastic puddings. There's one called a cheeky+saucy chocolate pot that's just pure dark chocolate mousse meant to be heated up and spread over something but yours truly is too much of a chocoholic to deal with warming it up. I plunge straight into it and look for more when the tiny pot is all gone.

Another recent discovery is this dark chocolate molten cake that takes 30 seconds in the microwave for it to be gooey, chocolately, sinful and absolutely delicious. Another pudding I'd never heard of was banoffee pie which is a mixture of banana and toffee and it's quite a delicious treat! I made one last night, take a look :-)

I LOVE the puddings here, definitely making me one happy (and unhealthy) chap. I've also started a Chocolate quest and mapped places out on google maps. Yes, I'm a chocolately geek!

CHOCOLATE SHOW!

Alright, so if anyone doesn't know how ridiculously addicted I am to chocolate, you know now. One could imagine how exciting it would be if a new chocolatier popped up in town or some tasty chocolate was ordered online. No, no, nothing like that, I'm playing with the big kids now and they put on entire shows devoted to chocolate! When I heard about this, it immediately when on my TODO list. Sadly, I missed it last year but it wasn't going to pass me by again! I grabbed a few friends and off we went to the chocolate show spectacular!

Man, what a day! There are samples of all kinds of chocolate all around! I was in chocolate heaven, simply blissful. I tried chocolate truffles, chocolate covered toffee, chocolate infused red wine, chocolate bars from all over the world, earl grey chocolate, dark chocolate peanut butter, more truffles, mint chocolate coffee dipping sticks and much much more.

We stuck around to see a demo of Jacques Torres creating some thanksgiving chocolate treats which consisted of a chocolate turkey, homemade marshmallows in the shape of turkey eggs and white chocolate straw. It was pretty cool!

Here are a few photos from the show but take a look at the rest on flickr:

My Addiction to Chocolate

Listening to: The Killers - When You Were Young
I'm not going to lie, I'm in love with the chocolately goodness that resides in the most decadent of treats. I'm a fan of the dark, the creamy and the irresistibly delicious scent of cocoa wafting in the air. The most dangerous provider of my sinfully wondrous addiction is a patisserie called Financier. With three convenient locations in Manhattan all of which are dangerously located near my office, it is known as the house of sinful indulgence.

Today I succumbed to the ever dangerous white & dark chocolate layered mousse cake. I witnessed its true power as I am now incapacitated by its richness. I am sitting here breathing heavily from dark chocolate blow this dessert has dealt me. Never again...but we both know the day will come again. =)
