Is it Fall Yet? Apple Picking in the Heat

It's been quite hot here lately for supposedly being officially "fall" now. I'm quite disappointed with the past week's weather but the upcoming week looks promising.

This past week I was working quite a bit with post-rollout issues and enhancements. That kept me busy but I did have a chance to go out with a few colleagues to get chicken wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. That was a good time!

This weekend I had quite an adventure with going apple picking with some friends. It was me, steph, andrew and andrew's friend abbey. We used my zipcar membership to get a ford escape which is coincidentally humorous since we're escaping from the city :-) We had a bit of trouble with the directions and wound up going the wrong direction and almost having to cross the George Washington Bridge back into NY. Luckily, with a little illegal maneuvering to cross several lanes of traffic, we exited and found our way again.

We made it out to Soon's orchard after a two hour trip which didn't leave us much time to spend at the farm picking apple's. When we finally arrived, the crispness in the air was sorely lacking as it turned out to be hot, almost 85 degrees. We picked some apples, worked up a sweat, had some chilled apple cider and apple cider donuts and then headed back to the city.

Michelle and I have arranged a zipcar for next weekend and we're going to a different apple farm just the two of us. It'll be nice to get out of the city again and spend some quality time with the M.

Today, I went down to the redhook ball fields for one of the last visits of the season. The permit has not been renewed yet so it might be one of the last times EVER! *tear* They better bring it back, redhook has some of the best mexican food in the city!
